A peer review of gender and human rights policies and programmes is being conducted in Nauru this week.
It is the first of a series being conducted by the European Union and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
The secretary general of the Forum Secretariat, Dame Meg Taylor, said the peer reviews were based on the idea that Pacific nations can learn from their neighbours.
She said there were experienced people across the region and reviews like these allowed them to share their professional insights and learning with one another.
The second peer review happens in Vanuatu later this month.
