Arawa Hospital in Bougainville is the latest medical facility in Papua New Guinea to run out of drugs.
Previously Angau Hospital in Lae and Mt Hagen Hospital had reported severe shortages.
Now a former Bougainville MP, Theresa Jaintong, who is a patient in a ward at Arawa Hospital, said it had run out of drugs.
She said the hospital was crowded but its dispensary was closed.
Ms Jaintong said patients were forced to seek their drugs elsewhere but she said the nearest pharmacy was in Buka, which was a five hour drive from Arawa and not an option for someone who was very sick.
Ms Jaintong also said the staff at Arawa were being overworked because the hospital had a huge catchment area, are were not being paid.
