Over the past six months a Drug Task Force on Guam has seized more than $US750,000 worth of controlled substances and arrested 55 people suspected of involvement in illegal drug activity on the island.

The Guam Daily Post reported over 13,000 grams of marijuana, 556 grams of methamphetamine and 749 prescription pills were seized by the task force during their execution of search warrants.
The task force was created through an executive order given by Governor Eddie Calvo in February.
It was formed to combat the island's growing drug problem and consists of officers from the Guam Police Department, the Department of Corrections, Airport Police, Customs and Quarantine, the Port Authority and one analyst from the Guam Army National Guard.

Meanwhile the Guam Daily Post also reported that members of the task force taking part in raids raised concerns about the impact of the drug trade on families and especially children.
