A new tsunami preparedness project is set for five coastal schools in Papua New Guinea.
The schools are in East New Britain, East Sepik, Bougainville, Milne Bay and on Manus Island.
'Reducing the loss of lives of school children from tsunamis in Asia-Pacific Region' is funded by the Japanese government through the United Nations Development Programme.
The project aims to raise awareness of tsunamis with school children and build on existing preperations such as evacuation drills.
PNG is one of 18 countries taking part in the one-year project.
