A solo aviator promoting women in science has been island-hopping through the Pacific region as part of a 90 day world tour.
Shaesta Waiz landed her Beechcraft Bonanza A36 plane at Pago Pago on Friday from Fiji before heading to Hawai'i with a stop in Kiribati.
The 39-year-old pilot was born in a refugee camp and ended up in the US after her family escaped the Soviet-Afghan war.
She's raising funds for a scholarship to inspire young people into careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.
