Called "septage" the septic waste is being treated courtesy of a multi-million dollar scheme funded by the governments of Vanuatu, Australia and the Asian Development Bank.
Located in Bouffa the scheme consists of two septage ponds managed by a eight staff and is expected to improve Port Vila's waterways and the health of residents in surrounding communities.
