The prosecutor in French Polynesia says so far this year more than 43 kilogrammes of methamphetamine has been seized.
Herve Leroy said taking into account a population of 280,000, the quantity was significant.
He said the drugs seized this year had a street value of $US40 million.
At the end of last month, a record 21 kilogrammes of methamphetamine was found as well as large sums of cash.
Dozens of people had been implicated in a number of cases.
Methamphetamine is reportedly imported from the US where it is bought for between $US10 to $US30 a gram and then sold in Tahiti for $US1000.
