The four parties making up New Caledonia's FLNKS pro-independence movement have been in separate extended weekend meetings.
The party meetings follow the Paris talks earlier this month of the Noumea Accord signatories who advanced plans for next year's independence referendum.
The FLNKS components were considering how to proceed with their preparations of the vote.
Since the Paris talks there was agreement on who would be eligible to vote but work needs to be done to formulate the referendum question to determine what a future New Caledonia should look like.
The debate in New Caledonia will be given a fresh impetus at the beginning of December when the French minister Edouard Philippe is due for a three-day visit.
