Police in the Cook Islands say the number of road accidents in 2017 was the highest in three years.
There was 258 reported accidents last year, as opposed to 230 in 2016, 212 in 2015 and of 267 in 2014.
The police say the number of drivers arrested for being over the legal alcohol limit is also increasing with 18 arrests last month and 12 in November.
They say the amount of fines issued for traffic offences went up as well over the summer for infringements including speeding, failure to produce the required documentation and driving a motorcycle without a helmet.
