Weapons disposal in Bougainville has been allocated $US3.7 million from the Papua New Guinea government over three years.
The project, which has been running for 15 years, is a major part of the autonomous region's peace process
The Post Courier reported at a recent meeting, the PNG and Bougainville governments also agreed to seek technical and financial support to execute the project as well as to remove of World War II remnants.
Countries with remnants on Bougainville will be invited to contribute.
