The French High Commission in French Polynesia has published the dates for candidates to register for this year's territorial election.
They can do so from 12 March to 26 March.
The election is scheduled for 22 April to choose a 57-member assembly for a five-year term.
A second round for parties exceeding 12.5 percent of the votes will be held on 6 May.
In the last election in 2013, the Tahoeraa Huiraatira won two thirds of all seats but the party has since split, with former Tahoeraa politicians setting up their own party which has since merged with the assembly's only other anti-independence party.
By law, party lists must alternate male and female candidates to encourage a gender balance.
