An act of vandalism has forced Papua New Guinea's Air Niugini to suspend flights to Bougainville's Buka airport..
The suspension followed vandalism in which precision approach path indicator lights at the airport were damaged.
The lights are an aid to help pilots acquire and maintain the correct approach when landing aircraft.
The Post Courier reported Air Niugini saying it will resume flights as soon as the lights are repaired.
The airline said it regrets the inconvenience but safety is paramount.
