A French Polynesian man who has been declared ineligible for a year has challenged the decision by the French constitutional court.
Yves Conroy was found to have produced unacceptable expense accounts for his bid to run for a seat in the French National Assembly.
According to Radio1, Mr Conroy has taken issue with the demand that the account needed to be certified by an approved specialist.
He also said his account had earlier been approved.
Mr Conroy also said the quoted gifting provisions didn't apply because the French tax code was not used in French Polynesia.
In connection with this year's territorial election in French Polynesia, Mr Conroy lodged complaints against five politicians, including the president Edouard Fritch, for allegedly abusing work trips to campaign.
The five could face court action, with Mr Conroy doubting they can escape punishment.
He was the complainant in a case against another top politician Gaston Flosse in the 1990s which eventually led to him losing office.
