A four-metre long snake, weighing 26 kilos, has been killed by hunters In New Caledonia's north.
A picture of three hunters with the python in Voh has circulated on social media.
Experts say the non-venomous snake is not part of New Caledonia's fauna and must have been introduced either illegally or by accident.
The territory's biggest snake is the boa on Lifou and measures up to 1.40 metres.
