French Polynesia has taken receipt of its first 100 percent electric bus.
The Chinese built bus can travel at least 200 kilometres before needing recharging.
During braking phases, the electric motor becomes a generator, making it possible to recharge the battery and to increase the vehicle's autonomy.
Due to its aluminium structure, the bus is highly resistant to corrosion.
President Edouard Fritch said the government supports initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of public transportation.
