An opposition assembly member has defected to French Polynesia's ruling Tapura Huiraatira Party.
Bernard Natua told the public broadcaster, La Premiere, he is leaving the Tahoeraa Huiraatira to better serve his constituency.
Mr Natua, who represents the western Tuamotus, was one of 11 members of the once-dominant Tahoeraa to be elected to the 57-strong assembly last May.
His defection brings to 39 the number of Tapura members.
