There's a call in Vanuatu for the setting up of a national centre to deal with the rising tide of non communicable diseases.
Willie Tokon of Vanuatu's association of Indigenous Medical Allied Health and Nursing Private Practitioners is appealing to the government for assistance to set up a centre in Port Vila.
Dr Tokon said such diseases threaten the entire population.
He said the association would like to see a national centre where all people with NCDs can go to receive tests and treatment free of charge.
NCDs, which include heart disease, cancer and diabetes are the leading cause of death in the world.
