American Samoa's population is continuing to drop with the 2018 estimate putting it at 59,600.

That's 700 people less than the estimate a year ago.
The Statistics Division reports that in recent times there have been fewer births and more deaths.
In the past year the number of births dropped to 977 with deaths rising to 311.
Immigration arrival and departure statistics show that about 2000 people left American Samoa in the last year.
