The governor of Papua New Guinea's Madang province is visiting his counterpart in Papua province in neighbouring Indonesia.
Peter Yama's visit to Jayapura, where he has met with Papua's Lukas Enembe, followed a trip by the latter to various PNG provinces including Madang last month.
The two governors have discussed possible opportunities for trade and business links between Madang and Papua.
While in Jayapura, Mr Yama is also due to meet Papua's Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Governor Enembe told RNZ Pacific last month that after decades of no contact between Indonesia's Papua region and neighbouring PNG, it was time to build links.
He said he was seeking to establish formal province-to-province ties and a closer relationship in general with PNG, with the blessing of Jakarta.
