A lawyer representing a 38-year-old man in Samoa, who is charged with his wife's murder, has applied to release the accused on bail.
The deceased was the chief executive of the Unit Trust of Samoa, Sa'u Justina Fiapa'ipa'i Sa'u Lam.
The accused, Kolani Junior Lam, appeared in the Supreme Court yesterday where his lawyer, Komisi Koria, asked for his client to be released from custody.
Mr Lam has not yet entered a plea because police have not finalised their charges.
The prosecution will respond to the bail application once it is filed by the end of this week.
Police charged the defendant following results of a post mortem.
The deceased's family held a funeral and burial service last week.
The accused will appear in court again next week for his bail application hearing.
