Boat traffic along Guam's northwest coast could be restricted soon if a US military proposal is successful.
The Pacific Daily News reported the proposal calls for the creation of a new surface danger zone in connection with the military's small arms firing range at Finegayan, home of the new Marine Corps base.
The new zone was requested by the navy, and would intermittently affect access to the zone, which extends to the waters offshore.
Based on co-ordinates provided by the Army Corps, the proposed zone, which is roughly cone-shaped, would extend about 3.8 kilometres offshore and be over a kilometre wide at its widest point.
