According to local television, every month last year about 50 people living outside the territory applied for a driver's licence.
The cost is about $US270 for non-residents and about $US75 for locals.
However, the cost of getting a licence in New Caledonia is $US850.
A woman visting from New Caledona told the local broadcaster that taking the test in Wallis is easier in part because there are no traffic lights.
