The trial in Samoa of a man accused of killing his wife who was a former government CEO will be heard in the Supreme Court next month, before a panel of assessors.
The defendant, Kolani Junior Lam, had applied for the trial to be heard by a judge alone.
He is facing one count each of murder, assault, and conspiring to defeat justice.
While the media is restricted from publishing the full content of the application hearing Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala Warren, did say evidence of an alleged previous assault of the deceased by her husband would be admissible.
The judge also ordered that drug possession charges against the accused be tried separately.
