A Fijian man who'd alleged he was beaten in police custody more than two years ago is expecting a decision on his case next week.
Ricardo Fisher was on trial in the Magistrates Court at Suva yesterday charged with being drunk and disorderly and resisting arrest.
The defence argued the police had not followed the correct procedure during his arrest and that unnecessary use of force was used.
Mr Fisher gave evidence that he was assaulted numerous times during his initial arrest and later at the police station until he was unconscious.
The prosecution argued that reasonable force was used.
A decision is due on 23 May.
