Health authorities in French Polynesia have made available 22,000 doses of free flu vaccine for people deemed to be at risk.
The vaccine will be available for people such as the elderly and pregnant women as well as health professionals.
The vaccination campaign is planned until the end of January.
This year, French Polynesia has had two flu outbreaks which forced 268 people to be taken care of in hospital.
Eight people died of the flu.
