A private primary school in Vanuatu has sent 419 students home due to insolvency.
Parents had stopped paying tuition fees at Donna's Elite Foundation English Grammar School in Port Vila because they believed a government subsidy covered costs during the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the subsidies apply only to state schools.
Students have been told they can return next week once the school has sorted the issue.
