Unemployment figures in New Caledonia for last year show a small drop compared to 2018.
The statistics showed it was 10.9 percent, meaning just under 14,000 people were out of work.
A further 8500 people were not looking for work or were not immediately available for employment.
The figures also showed that unemployment among young people was above 26 percent, four times higher than the rate for older adults.
A breakdown according to ethnicity showed that just under 15 percent of indigenous Kanaks were unemployed.
With the Covid-19 outbreak the number for this year is expected to increase as the domestic economy is forecast to shrink by 3.5 percent.
