A second person has died of Covid-19 in French Polynesia overnight, as the territory recorded a further 22 infections.

The government said the victim was the 85-year-old husband of the elderly woman who died yesterday.

They will both be buried today.

French Polynesia has recorded 953 Covid-19 cases to date, 891 of them since the beginning of August.

Yesterday, it had a spike of 74.

Seven people are in hospital care while most cases are considered recovered.

Most active cases are in urban areas of Tahiti, but there are also some in Moorea and Hao.
