French Polynesia Covid-19 pandemic has claimed its 19th life with more than 5000 cases now recorded.
The death follows close on the heels of two other fatal cases, including a woman in her forties.
Authorities said 1606 cases are active, including 70 at a Tahiti high school, which was closed yesterday afternoon.
71 people are in hospital, including 18 in intensive care.
All but 62 of the 5161 cases were detected after the borders were reopened and mandatory quarantine requirements were abolished in July to boost tourism.
Among those infected is the president, Edouard Fritch.
