Fiji's Prime Minister has congratulated US Democrat Joe Biden despite no official result being announced in the presidential election.
The world has watched as the votes in battleground states have been counted over the past three days with the narrowest of margins between Biden and President Donald Trump and the latter refusing to concede that the election is lost.
Trump also indicated he would launch efforts both for recounts and legal action if the results are not in his favour.
However this hasn't stopped Fiji's Frank Bainimarama from congratulating Joe Biden via a Twitter post.
He also appealed to Biden and the US saying "together, we have a planet to save from a #ClimateEmergency and a global economy to build back better from #COVID19."
Congratulations, @JoeBiden.

Together, we have a planet to save from a #ClimateEmergency and a global economy to build back better from #COVID19.
Now, more than ever, we need the USA at the helm of these multilateral efforts (and back in the #ParisAgreement — ASAP!) pic.twitter.com/mhX9HWR5HI
He also said the US was needed in the nations signed up to the Paris Agreement, something Trump had vowed to remove his country from, while Biden had indicated a willingness to return to the fold.
Biden is narrowly ahead in the count, saying it is clear he will be the next president.
