Covid-19 deaths in French Polynesia exceed 100

The death toll from the Covid-19 pandemic in French Polynesia has risen to 103.

Among the latest fatalities is Thierry Teama, deputy editor at local TV channel TNTV.

At the launch of TNTV in 2000, Mr Teamo made history at the channel when he presented its first news bulletin.

He was 55.

A total of 16,162 people have been infected since testing began in March.

All but 62 cases were detected after the borders were reopened in July and mandatory quarantine requirements were abolished.

There are 56 people in hospital, with 21 of them in intensive care.
