There have been two more Covid-19 related deaths in French Polynesia bringing total fatalities to 135.

The deaths come as the French territory changes the quarantine requirement for non-essential travel.

Total cases now reached 18,206 by close of business Monday in Tahiti with 21 new infections in the preceding 72 hours.

There were 98 active cases with 14 people in hospital including 5 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, the vaccination programme had reached 3148 health and frontline workers, seniors and people with vulnerabilities.

This includes 226 who have received both doses of the Pfizer jab.

The vaccine is currently only available to those on Tahiti and Moorea due to storage and transport requirements of the Pfizer-BioNTech inoculation which requires storage at -70 degrees celsius.
