A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck in the Solomon Sea this morning.
The quake struck near Bougainville Island, an autonomous region of Papua New Guinea, at 8.13am NZT.
The US Geological Survey reports the quake was about 50 kilometres deep.
No tsunami warning was issued.
