Thousands of people have travelled to PNG's capital to see the Pope, who arrived in Port Moresby from Indonesia on Friday night.

Children will line the street, and performers and musicians have been rehearsing ahead of Sunday's Mass which is expected to draw crowds of over 35,000

Official numbers show around 6000 people have travelled to Port Moresby to see the Pope.

Bouganvillian Priscilla Takusi said she was looking forward to the visit.

Pope Francis arrived in from Indonesia on Friday night.

Catholics in Papua New Guinea say the Pope's visit this weekend will strengthen their faith.

The nation is made up of at least two million Catholics.

More than 35,000 people are expected to overflow stadiums for Mass on Sunday.

Julianna Waeda, who will be an usher for the gathering said the visit is very important.

"It's not everyday you get to participate in mass with the head of your church. So, it's just my way of strengthening my faith.
