Cook Islands PM to lead community consultation on seabed mining in New Zealand

Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown is heading to New Zealand for a series of community consultations on seabed mining.

Public meetings will be held across Aotearoa starting on 17 November.

  • Along with talks on the developments in the seabed minerals sector, Brown is set to discuss next years 60th Anniversary of free association with New Zealand.

    The community consultations will take place in major cities such as Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Tokoroa.

    Other members of the delegation include Kaumaiti Nui, Tou Ariki and members of the Seabed Minerals Committee Bishop Tutai Pere and George Williamson.

    Everyone in the community is invited to attend the consultations and be informed of the developments given Brown.
