Watch: Over 3600 cases of child sexual abuse material reported in Fiji

Fijian Deputy Prime Minister and a co-chair of the anti-porn taskforce Manoa Kamikamica says social media companies in the United States reported over 3600 cases of child sexual abuse material shared on their platforms in Fiji in 2024.

Kamikamica said information provided by social media companies to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, America's largest and most influential child protection organisation, highlights a "concerning trend developing in Fiji".

He said the government, through the anti-porn taskforce, is working to address the issue of child pornography by "creating more laws that have teeth".

Women and Children's Minister Sashi Kiran has also warned the Fijian diaspora.

She said there were cases were those living aborad get young girls to send photos, which end up online.

"The whole nation and diaspora needs to know that we will do everything to protect our children."
