Moera Tuilaepa-Taylor
Moera Tuilaepa-Taylor was born to Samoan parents in Lower Hutt, and then grew up in the multi-cultural hub of Cannon’s Creek, the part of Wellington where she still resides. After finishing her schooling at Porirua College, Moera did media studies at Whitireia Polytechnic (then called Parumoana Community College). She started off wanting to pursue print journalism, but then discovered radio and was hooked.
After working as an operator for RNZ and then working for what was then RNZ International (now RNZ Pacific), Moera took Manukau Institute’s Pacific journalism course, which she found brilliant for training and making connections.
After volunteering overseas and working with Women’s Refuge in Porirua and Literacy Aotearoa, Moera returned to RNZ Pacific and has held a number of roles. Now, as Manager of RNZ Pacific, she leads the talented team of RNZ Pacific journalists, producers and presenters and continues to encourage young Pacific people to take up journalism as a career and to be the ones telling Pacific stories.
