More countries in the Pacific are reportedly interested in 'OnBoard,' an e-reporting tool for fisheries management.
The free software developed by the Pacific Community, or SPC, works on smartphones and tablets and improves the speed and accuracy with which boat captains can record their daily catch and upload the data for fisheries managers to access.
SPC data analyst Andrew Hunt says traditional paper recording, which is still widely used, takes a lot of time to process and is heavily prone to errors.
Mr Hunt told Koroi Hawkins since its release last year, there has been growing interest from Pacific countries to have OnBoard used on boats operating in their waters.
