Canberra vows it's with the Pacific on climate change

From , 4:03 pm on 7 November 2018

Australia's assistant minister for international development and the Pacific, Anne Ruston, says Canberra will meet, if not exceed, its commitments to combat climate change.

Pacific Island countries say climate change is the greatest threat they face and Ms Ruston says her government backs them on this.

But there have been reports Australia attempted to water down a statement at the Pacific Islands Forum summit on climate change, and that Canberra was toying with pulling out of the Paris Agreement.

Don Wiseman suggested to Ms Ruston that this puts Australia off side with the Pacific.
