Len Garae is one of the best known journalists in the Pacific.
He is also one of the longest serving, having started out in 1978.
Much of his working career has been with the Vanuatu Daily Post, 23 years, and today [Friday] is his last day there.
He has also been the Vanuatu correspondent for RNZ Pacific for many years, and he says he still plans to file stories from time to time, possibly from his home island of Ambae.
Mr Garae told Don Wiseman a highlight of his career was working as a journalist as the colony of the New Hebrides became the new nation of Vanuatu in 1980.
