Fiji's signing of two major international rights covenants is seen as a step in the right direction by local groups but they say more progression is needed.
The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights have both come into effect now that the Fiji government has signed the agreements.
Nalini Singh from Fiji's NGO Coalition on Human Rights told Koro Vaka'uta about the significance of the agreements.
