Soldiers without Guns is a documentary about how the New Zealand Defence Force used guitars and waiata to help bring peace to Bougainville at the end of the bloody civil war there in the 1990s.
Filmmaker Will Watson has been working on the documentary since 2005, and it's finally making its big-screen debut in Auckland this week.
Kirsten Johnstone, of RNZ's Music 101, spoke with one of the people featured in the film, Fiona Cassidy, who was a major in the army at that stage.
She asked her how the mission differed from previous ones she'd been on.
