An anti-corruption body in Solomon Islands says a pay rise for the country's politicians is ridiculous.
The Parliamentary Entitlements Commission, which sets MPs' pay, has given members of the new parliament a pay rise of as much as 60 percent.
The commission says that's to offset the fact that MPs now have to pay income tax, after an exemption was revoked in March.
But a spokesperson for Transparency International Solomon Islands, Elliot Dawea, says that justification is outrageous.
