The city clerk in the Solomon Islands capital says squatters in the National Botanical Gardens are putting the park's ecology and Honiara's water supply at risk.
Charles Kelly says the gardens are a protected "forest in the city" providing conservation habitat for rare birds, insects and plants.
He says flora and fauna are endangered by squatters who also risk fouling the town's water supply which draws from the gardens' reservoir.
Mr Kelly told Dominic Godfrey squatters are an ongoing problem.
