A Bougainvillean spreading awareness about the upcoming independence referendum says many people still don't understand the process.
Gerald Turumanu is a member of the Port Moresby Bougainville Association but has voluntarily gone back to the autonomous Papua New Guinea region to help with preperations for November's poll.
Mr Turumanu told Ben Robinson Drawbridge local leaders are pleased he is sharing his knowledge.
