Just two candidates will contest the by-election for the seat made vacant by the death of Tonga's former prime minister, 'Akilisi Pohiva.
He held the Kolomotu'a seat on the main island, Tongatapu for 32 years.
Mr Pohiva's eldest son, Siaosi, is one of the candidates. The other is the scientist Netatua Prescott Taufatofua.
Our correspondent in Tonga says Siaosi Pohiva will fight the by-election on 28 November using the same plank as his father - that of transparency and good governance.
But Kalafi Moala told Don Wiseman that Dr Taufatofua may have an advantage by promising action on long ignored local issues.
