As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause economic crises across the Pacific, women are struggling to afford sanitary care products.

Fiji has managed to contain the worst health impacts of the coronavirus outbreak, but people there are suffering from economic hardship.

A young climate warrior AnnMary Raduva says women and girls should not have to choose between food or sanitary pads.

The 16-year-old student and her 13-year old sister Faith have started the Lagilagi Relief Campaign to support women and girls struggling to cope with period poverty in Fiji.

She spoke with RNZ Pacific reporter Christine Rovoi about their campaign.
