Guam's Historic Preservation Officer has taken legal action to get the US military to delay the creation of a firing range and to conduct an archeological survey.

It follows the discovery of an ancient burial ground last month on land being developed for a new base for marines transferred from Japan.
The officer, Patrick Lujan, says artefacts found during the preparation of four other firing ranges on Guam prompted him to invoke the delay.
But he told Ben Robinson Drawbridge it's the burial site at Magua that could lead to the history books being rewritten.
