Empowering coastal communities to manage their fisheries is the objective of a new project for which the European Union has injected $US5.2 million.

In partnership with the Pacific Community, the Locally Managed Marine Area Network has launched the project - called 'the 100-Percent Solution'.

The network's council chair, Alifereti Tawake, says the two year project, which targets five Melanesian countries, has three dimensions.
