More than 10,000 people rallied in New Caledonia at the weekend, demanding voting rights in provincial elections.
The lobby group, One Heart One Vote, organised the gathering outside the French High Commission in Noumea to coincide with a visit of the French overseas minister, who is there in quarantine.
About 40000 residents are currently not eligible to vote for the provincial assemblies and also excluded from independence referendums.
I asked my colleague Walter Zweifel why some people don't have these voting rights?
